Branding Mission City

In light of the pandemic’s impact on tourism, I explored ways to revitalize Mission, my hometown, once border restrictions eased.

  • Conducted research
  • Developed mood boards
  • Created concepts and sketches
  • Designed and developed a logo
  • Established a brand system
  • Tested and applied the system

Mission embodied a bridge between the past, present, and future, with a rich history tied to the Stó:lō Nation and the Fraser River. Its railways and bridges historically facilitated connections and opportunities. The community cherished its small-town ambiance and accessibility to nature. Presently, Mission was evolving with waterfront revitalization initiatives, signaling a dynamic future for newcomers and residents alike. It was an invitation to discover one’s connection to this thriving, growing community.

Logo design and brand guide
I started by brainstorming and sketching ideas. Developed mood boards to gather references and spark inspiration for typography and color schemes. Designed the logo using a triangulated grid for precision and coherence.

APPLICATIONS: Utilizing the established grid, the angles provided a framework for creating unified applications. Expanding both the grid and the logo elements allowed for the generation of a visual echo, particularly evident in platforms like Instagram posts.
